At the center of the project is the Fortis Elevate Bed, selected to respond to the realities of mental health care. Designed to support both patients and clinicians, it promotes safer care while contributing to a calmer bedroom environment. A custom stain was developed to match the oyster grey palette while retaining the natural timber grain, reinforcing a cohesive, warm and non‑institutional look. This bed carefully integrates function and safety, all while maintaining a high level of comfort.
Shared spaces were designed to encourage rest, connection and routine. Noosa and Ruby Lounges provide comfortable, supportive seating that feels familiar and relaxed, while Fuso Tables in communal and activity areas offer robust, understated support for daily use. Together, these elements help create spaces that feel stable, welcoming and more homely.
The completed project reflects Crown Furniture’s approach to mental health environments. Thoughtful, durable and guided by care outcomes, the Modbury Hospital South Wing Mental Health Units demonstrate how considered furniture selection and collaboration can support clinical needs while creating calm, respectful spaces focused on safety, dignity and recovery.
