Delivered while the village remained fully operational, the refurbishment encompassed 84 resident rooms, communal areas and staff spaces. Furniture played a central role in shaping the renewed environment, with furniture pieces including the Jovi Armchair, Salzburg Lounges, Nikko Single Lounge, Coogee Tables and Clem Dining Tables contributing to comfortable settings for dining, relaxation and daily activities.
Distinctive furniture collections were introduced throughout the village to reinforce the residential character and establish focal points within shared spaces. Puff Lounges bring a contemporary presence to the lobby and activity areas, while statement pieces such as the Marano Buffet provide both functionality and visual interest, contributing to a cohesive interior aesthetic.
Thoughtful furniture selection played a central role in redefining shared spaces throughout the village. Residential-inspired furnishings, layered finishes and carefully considered layouts transformed underutilised and transitional areas into inviting destinations for relaxation, social interaction and everyday living, reinforcing the project’s vision of a more residential and experience-focused environment.
Particular attention was given to creating spaces that encourage residents to pause, gather and spend time together, helping convert overlooked areas into valued communal settings that contribute to the life of the village.
Outdoor spaces formed an equally important part of the refurbishment. The introduction of the Tobago Outdoor Lounges, together with the Altiora and Valencia Outdoor Tables, extended the design language beyond the interiors, creating comfortable outdoor settings where residents can relax, enjoy the surrounding landscape and spend time with family and friends.
The completed interiors now offer a series of distinct yet cohesive spaces that support a variety of daily experiences, from shared meals and social gatherings to quiet moments of rest and reflection. Together, these environments reflect the evolving expectations of modern aged care living while maintaining a consistent sense of warmth, comfort and refinement throughout.
The success of the furniture proposal led to an expanded project scope, with Crown Furniture subsequently engaged to assist with the selection and coordination of artwork and décor throughout the village. This additional layer of design input helped unify the overall aesthetic, with carefully curated artwork, accessories and decorative elements adding personality, warmth and visual richness across the community.
Today, St Jude’s Bicton Village reflects a contemporary approach to aged care living that places equal importance on functionality and quality of experience. Through the considered integration of furniture, artwork and décor, the project has helped shape an environment that feels familiar, comfortable and carefully tailored to the needs of its residents.
More than a refurbishment, the project demonstrates how thoughtfully considered furniture, artwork and interiors can elevate the experience of aged care living, creating environments that support wellbeing, encourage connection and feel genuinely at home.
