Discover Crown Furniture's Legacy Since 1974

Richard Martin, an accountant founded 'Supercraft Wood Products’ with his young family in mind. Working closely with a manufacturer in Leichardt, crafted wooden stool kits. This was the starting point for what would become a legacy in the furniture industry.

When the manufacturer relocated to Lawson, the 1977 bushfires destroyed the facility. Richard rebuilt at St Mary's his own facility to continue creating products.

The team expanded to 15 dedicated individuals as the second generation entered the company, contributing fresh energy and ideas.

A significant milestone occurred when the second generation assumed ownership, prompting the rebranding of the company as 'Crown Furniture.' This marked our exclusive focus on crafting furniture for Aged Care & Retirement Living, accompanied by a revamped logo that symbolized our dedication to quality and care.

Our reach extended nationwide as our projects found homes in nearly every state across Australia.

Responding to the evolving landscape, Crown Furniture diversified its offerings, branching into the hospital and healthcare sectors.

Witnessing substantial growth, we celebrated the inauguration of a custom-built factory and office at 144-146 Russell St, Emu Plains. This state-of-the-art facility encompassed a 4,000SQM Factory, equipped with an extensive stockholding area, a specialized manufacturing zone, open-plan offices, multiple boardrooms, and even an underground basement car park.

In-house upholstery operations became a pivotal component, ensuring tighter control over lead times, quality, and the ability to create bespoke products while staying ahead with ongoing market trends.

Another chapter began as Crown Furniture underwent its second logo change, accompanied by the launch of a brand-new website, marking our dedication to staying current and evolving.

Solution Design Group was born, and Crown Furniture became a division alongside Civic Australia, broadening our horizons and capabilities.

Expanding our footprint, we acquired an additional location just a few hundred meters from our existing factory and office. This 8,000SQM facility provided ample space for further manufacturing and stockholding capabilities.

Adding another milestone to our journey, we purchased a third location, primarily dedicated to stockholding, along with some product assembly areas and offices, totalling 2,000SQM.

Welcoming the third generation, enriching Crown Furniture with fresh perspectives and an unwavering commitment to our legacy of growth and quality.

A significant rebranding initiative was undertaken, culminating in a comprehensive overhaul featuring a new logo, colour palette, website, and branding guidelines. This transformation aligned with our position as a market-leading service.

Crown Furniture transformed with key investments: a cutting-edge 5-axis CNC for timber and an automatic fabric CNC, amplifying production precision and innovation.

A jubilant year as our Crown family expanded to 100 devoted team members, each adding their unique touch to our legacy of growth, craftsmanship, and fostering an exceptional workplace culture.

Hub88, a space designed to offer our clients a unique experience and environment, was officially opened, providing a platform to explore our innovative solutions further.

A pivotal year as we launched a new website, showcasing an expanded range of mental health and corrections furniture. This move solidified our increased market leadership across all sectors.
