On the evening of March 18, 2024, industry professionals gathered at the Hub88 Experience Centre in North Sydney for an enlightening event featuring the Honourable Greg Hunt. The focus was on the transformative Megatrends in the Aged Care and Retirement Industry sectors, aimed at shedding light on future directions and challenges.

The event kicked off at 4:30 pm and concluded at 6:30 pm, offering attendees a valuable opportunity to hear from Greg Hunt, who delivered a compelling keynote speech. His insights into the demographic shifts, with the population of those over 65 expected to rise significantly by 2057, set the tone for an evening of deep discussions and learning.

Key industry leaders shared the stage during a panel Q&A session, providing their perspectives and experiences on various aspects of aged care and retirement living:

 

/ Lou Pascuzzi, CEO and MD of TLC Healthcare, discussed the integration of community medical centres with Residential Aged Care Facilities, emphasizing the accessibility of medical care for residents.

/ Glen Hurley, COO of Bolten Clarke, touched upon the logistical challenges within Aged Care, particularly the seamless transition from home care to residential care and the potential of AI to improve service timeliness.

/ Greg Aleckson, Director at New Direction Care, addressed workforce issues, including the balance between meeting care minute targets and managing costs effectively.

/ Martin Mambraku, Executive Director- Property and Development at Scalabrini, highlighted the future viability and importance of retirement villages within the Aged Care sector.

 

The event not only provided a platform for thought leadership but also offered an excellent networking opportunity, allowing attendees to connect with peers over canapes and drinks.
